The training will be free for all attendees.

Summary

This seminar will provide participants with a working knowledge of the design concepts and code requirements applicable to residential sprinkler systems. The presentation will include discussions regarding the differences between dedicated versus multi-purpose plumbing/sprinkler systems, effective system layout and pipe sizing, options for piping materials, using a well as a water supply, and installations in freezing climates. The seminar will also include quick design and inspection techniques for residential sprinkler systems, and code changes proposed for the International Residential Code will be discussed.

Speaker

Jeffrey M. Shapiro, P.E, will teach the class.  Mr. Shapiro is President of International Code Consultants (ICC), a consulting fire and life safety engineering firm based in Austin, Texas.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and is a Registered Professional Engineer.  Mr. Shapiro has written numerous articles published in nationally prominent magazines including Building Standards, the IFCI Fire Code Journal, Fire Engineering and Fire Command, and he recently authored Significant Changes to the International Fire Code - 2006 edition, published by Thompson-Delmar Learning and the International Code Council.
