Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) & Fire Model Impacts on the AHJ

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

If you are not already familiar with FDS, it is an amazing piece of fire modeling software developed by NIST.  It can be used for fire protection engineering, fire modeling, performance-based design and fire investigations.  You can learn more about it and download it for free at http://www.fire.nist.gov/fds.

Speakers

Dr. O.A. (DK) Ezekoye is a professor and the graduate advisor in the mechanical engineering department at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Ezekoye’s main areas of research focus on the interplay between heat transfer and combustion processes. He has authored or co-authored over 100 journal and conference papers in combustion, fire, and heat transfer. He is also a co-author of the textbook “Thermodynamics an Integrated Learning System”. Ezekoye’s research and teaching covers a range of applications from fundamentals of combustion systems to scientific support of the fire service in developing fire fighting tactics. He has acted as Principal Investigator for projects in these areas supported by the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Commerce-National Institute of Standards and Technology, NASA, DOE, Office of Naval Research, Ford Motor Co., and 3M Corp.
